Crawford and Hancock Lead Mariners to Victory Over Cleveland
Seattle.- J.P. Crawford hit a grand slam and Emerson Hancock pitched seven scoreless innings, leading the Seattle Mariners to a 6-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians, completing the series sweep.
Shortstop Crawford took advantage of a pitch from Dominican Luis Ortiz in the second inning to send the ball to right field, driving in four runs. This was the fourth grand slam of his career and the turning point for Seattle’s offense. The inning began with a run-scoring single by Miles Mastrobuoni.Hancock (3-2) had an outstanding performance, allowing only two hits in seven innings. The right-handed pitcher gave up one walk and struck out four batters, completing his work with 85 pitches.
The triumph was sealed with the work of relievers Casey Legumina and Eduard Bazardo. This is the second shutout of the season for the Mariners.
Randy Arozarena scored two runs in the game. Dominicans Jorge Polanco and Julio Rodríguez failed to get hits.
