Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Council of Evangelical Unity (CODUE) has urged lawmakers to prioritize the approval of a new justice code in the current legislature, reaffirming its commitment to the Constitution and the most important causes of the country.
Legislative Action Call
Pastor Feliciano Lacen Custodio, president of the organization, emphasized the need to equip Dominican justice with a modern code. According to Lacen, this measure, although it does not solve all the problems, will contribute significantly to a more just society. Therefore, they request that the legislators not allow this legislature to conclude without approving, ratifying and sending this crucial legislative piece to the executive branch.Lacen Custodio also highlighted the importance of having a uniform legal tool that responds to the current needs of the judicial system. In addition, he advocated for the creation of laws that are tailored to the local context, avoiding the importation of regulations from other countries that do not reflect the Dominican idiosyncrasy. The president of CODUE urged lawmakers to maintain their commitment to the country, fulfilling their duty and ensuring the delivery of this legislative piece without further delays or distractions. We understand that this is not the panacea to the solution of the problem, but it will help to have a more decent society. That is why we ask that they do not allow this legislature to expire without providing, ratifying or sending this important piece to the executive branch for the country.
