SANTO DOMINGO.

The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) will commemorate the 15th anniversary of the death of engineer Roque Napoleón Muñoz (Polón), an emblematic figure of Dominican sports and former president of the institution.

The religious ceremony, a mass, will be held this Thursday, January 15th, at the San Antonio María Claret parish, located in the Naco extension. The event is scheduled for 6:00 in the evening.

The participation of prominent figures from the sports world is expected, including leaders, coaches, athletes, family, and friends of Polón Muñoz.

The COD, along with the Muñoz Peña family, has extended invitations to the members of the Executive Committee, national sports federations, associations, clubs, leagues and sports unions, as well as the sports community in general. The objective is to pay tribute to the person who was also a member of the International Olympic Committee and the Executive Committee of the Pan American Sports Organization (ODEPA) and the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (ODECABE).

Roque Napoleón Muñoz, inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame in 1965, is remembered for his dedication to sports, art, culture, and school physical education. He was a key promoter in the creation of the National Institute of School Physical Education (INEFI).

The presence of family, friends, and members of the San Antonio María Claret parish, where the Olympic leader was an active parishioner, is anticipated.
