COD Athletes Commission Closes Successful Forum with Athletes
Santo Domingo. The Athletes Commission of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) concluded this Tuesday the First Athletes Forum “Vision Beyond the Goal”. The event, which lasted for two days at the Olympic Hostel, was attended by approximately 200 athletes from various disciplines. Luisito Pie, taekwondo athlete and president of the Athletes Commission, highlighted the relevance of the forum for the participants. The athletes had the opportunity to learn about the entity’s operation and their role in their sporting careers. In addition, athletes received guidance on crucial aspects such as mental health, personal development, and the management of their public image.The Minister of Sports, engineer Kelvin Cruz, participated via telephone and reiterated his commitment to support the athletes. He urged the athletes to continue with their preparation programs, focusing on the upcoming international commitments, especially the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.This commission goes beyond representing the athletes, its mission is to develop activities like this, which develop and strengthen the integral training of each athlete, which guarantees them better opportunities outside the sports and competitive arena. During the forum, athletes explored their rights and responsibilities, the importance of effective communication, and how to manage their personal brand to improve their image as athletes. The event featured presentations by prominent figures such as the immortal of Sport, licenciado Rubel Salomón; Aurora Viñas; the journalist Sussy Jiménez; the communicator Richard Bazil; the sports event producer Olga Torres; as well as Ana Cabrera, Kelvin Castillo and Juan Guerra.Our work from the Ministry of Sports is not only to build and renovate sports complexes, nor to support events, our commitment is to guarantee the well-being of each one of you.
