COD Athletes Commission Concludes Successful Forum with Athletes

Santo Domingo, DR. The Athletes Commission of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) concluded this Tuesday the First Athletes Forum “Vision beyond the goal”. The event, which lasted for two days at the Olympic Hostel, was attended by approximately 200 athletes from various disciplines. The president of the Athletes’ Commission, the renowned taekwondo athlete Luisito Pie, highlighted the relevance of the forum for the participants. The athletes had the opportunity to delve into the functioning of the entity and understand the crucial role it plays in their sporting careers. During the forum, athletes received valuable guidance on essential aspects for their integral development. Topics related to mental health, personal growth, and the management of their image as public figures were addressed.

This commission goes beyond representing the athletes; its mission is to develop activities like this, which develop and strengthen the comprehensive training of each athlete, guaranteeing them better opportunities outside the sports and competitive arena. Our goal is to fight for everyone.

Luisito Pie
The Minister of Sports, engineer Kelvin Cruz, participated through a phone intervention. The minister reiterated his commitment to support the athletes and urged them to continue with their preparation programs, especially in view of the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.

Our work from the Ministry of Sports is not only to build and renovate sports complexes, nor to support events, our commitment is to guarantee the well-being of each one of you.

The forum included exhibitions on the rights and duties of athletes. The importance of effective communication, the value of personal branding, and strategies to improve the image of athletes were emphasized. Among the distinguished speakers at the forum were the sports immortal, Rubel Salomón, Esq.; Aurora Viñas, journalist Sussy Jiménez, communicator Richard Bazil, sports event producer Olga Torres, as well as Ana Cabrera, Kelvin Castillo and Juan Guerra.
