Santo Domingo – The Court of First Instance of the National District, through its Civil and Commercial Chamber, ruled against the lawsuit filed by players Enmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz. The lawsuit, which sought to suspend the decision of the president of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (Lidom) regarding the registration of players, was dismissed.
Demand Details
Class and Ortiz tried to reverse Lidom’s objection to their registration to play with the Estrellas Orientales in the Autumn-Winter Tournament 2025-2026. Furthermore, they requested that the court order their immediate inclusion in the team roster. The lawsuit also requested a penalty of RD$100,000 per day against Lidom and its president for each day of delay in the registration, a request that was also rejected.Fundamentals of Judicial Decision
The judge based his decision on article 56 of the 2025-2026 Lidom Tournament Regulations.- This article grants the League’s president broad powers to decide on matters not covered in the regulations.
