Claro Half Marathon: An Unprecedented Success in the Dominican Republic

The Claro Half Marathon, in its thirtieth edition, has set a new record in the Dominican Republic. With 6,200 registered participants and the exhaustion of places one month before the event, this race is consolidated as the largest in the country, marking a milestone in national sports history. This year, the race designed for the whole family, attracted runners from more than 35 nationalities, who competed in the distances of 5, 10 and 21 kilometers along the iconic Malecón of Santo Domingo. The event, which promotes health and well-being, demonstrated its inclusive and intergenerational character. The participation ranged from 5-year-olds to 89-year-old runners, including 257 under 18s and 49 over 70s. In addition, 15 wheelchair athletes were part of this sporting event, reflecting the event’s commitment to inclusion. This year’s edition also stood out for its gender balance, with 51% male participation and 49% female. This shows the growing interest of the Dominican population in an active and healthy lifestyle. Regarding the age distribution, the largest group was the 18 to 29 year olds, with 1,959 registered (32%), followed by young adults aged 30 to 39, with 1,824 participants (30%).

With this emblematic event, which inspires and continues to position itself as a benchmark within the national sports calendar, we contribute to the development of sports in the Dominican Republic and to the promotion of values associated with well-being, discipline and family integration.

In addition, more than 2,000 free parking spaces were made available. Claro’s own registration platform registered 3,000 runners in the 5-kilometer distance, 2,000 in the 10-kilometer distance, and 1,200 in the 21-kilometer distance.
