Cibao FC Defeats Salcedo FC and Solidifies Lead in the LDF

A spectacular goal by Javier Roces was enough for Cibao FC to defeat Salcedo FC 1-0, taking away their undefeated record and consolidating themselves as the sole leader of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF 2025-2026). The match, corresponding to matchday 8, took place at the stadium of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, in a tournament dedicated to José Rafael Abinader. With this victory, Cibao FC adds 18 points, distancing itself from its direct rival, which remained with 15 units. The goal that defined the match came in the 61st minute, when Roces connected a powerful shot that went into the goal, leaving goalkeeper Cristian Severino with no chance and unleashing the euphoria of the fans present. Despite the defeat, Salcedo FC fought tirelessly, but encountered a defensive wall led by Miguel Lloyd, who frustrated every goal attempt by the visiting team. In the first half, Cibao FC suffered the injury of Walter Acuña in the 39th minute, being replaced by Wilman Modesta. Near halftime, Jean Carlos López was close to scoring with a powerful shot that hit the post. The second half began without changes, but with the same intensity. It wasn’t until Roces’ goal that the tie was broken. In the final minutes, Cibao FC made three tactical substitutions: Ángel Pérez, Gonzalo Alarcón and Julián Gómez came on for Rivaldo Correa, Omar de la Cruz and Carlos “Caballo” Ventura, respectively.
