Cibao Eagles Consolidate Their Dominance with Seventh Consecutive Victory
Santo Domingo – Las Águilas Cibaeñas continue to soar high at the top of the tournament, after obtaining their seventh consecutive victory. The team managed to defeat the Toros del Este with a score of 3 runs to 1, in an exciting match held on Wednesday at the Francisco Micheli Stadium.
With this triumph, the Águilas Cibaeñas (17-3) solidify their position as undisputed leaders, extending their lead over the Toros del Este (10-11) to seven and a half games. The team has once again demonstrated its collective strength and its ability to stay on top.
The Aguiluchos’ offensive began to roar in the second inning, when Alberto Rodríguez hit a single that opened the way for Jonatan Clase to drive in the first run with a double. The lead was extended in the sixth inning thanks to a home run by Aderlin Rodríguez, who sent the ball over the left field, putting the score at 2-0.
In the eighth episode, the Eagles sealed their victory with the aggressiveness of Ezequiel Durán, who hit a single, stole second base, and scored thanks to another hit by Alberto Rodríguez, establishing a 3-0 lead on the scoreboard.
Jonathan Hernandez took the victory, pitching a solid fifth inning without allowing runs, thus achieving his first win of the season. Jeurys Familia secured the save, despite allowing two hits and one earned run, finishing the inning with three consecutive strikeouts.
