Leones del Escogido Announce Starting Rotation for the Week
The leader of the national and Caribbean champions, Alex Cintrón, has revealed the starting rotation that Leones del Escogido will use for the first three games of the week.
The action will begin this Monday with Lael Lockhart on the mound, facing the Toros del Este at the Francisco A. Micheli stadium.
This will be the third season opener for Lockhart, who is coming off a standout performance on November 11th, where he pitched 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing only five hits, without conceding walks and striking out three batters against the Tigres del Licey at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium.
The lefty has accumulated 8.0 scoreless innings, with seven strikeouts, a WHIP of 1.13, and a batting average allowed of .214, in addition to a win to his credit.
For Tuesday’s game against the Estrellas Orientales at the Tetelo Vargas stadium, Cintrón has designated Grant Gavin as the starting pitcher.
In his most recent presentation, Gavin worked 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing five hits and striking out five batters against the Gigantes del Cibao on November 12th at the Julián Javier stadium.
Gavin records two victories, one of them against the Estrellas Orientales on October 20, where he also pitched five scoreless innings. In 19.0 innings, the American has an ERA of 4.26, with 18 strikeouts and a batting average against of .250.
On Wednesday, at the Quisqueya stadium, the turn will be for Kenny Hernández, who will open the seventh matchup of the season between Leones and Tigres, with the “City Champ” series tied 3-3.
The Panamanian lefty has a 1-1 record, with a 1.80 ERA in 5.0 innings, including four strikeouts, and his opponents are batting just .211.
The Lions start the week with an 8-11 record, only half a game behind the Tigers (8-10), who occupy the third position, and a game and a half behind the Toros del Este (9-9), located in second place.
