Santo Domingo – Los Leones del Escogido paid a well-deserved tribute to the maintenance team of the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium this Tuesday, recognizing their hard work and dedication behind every baseball game.
A Tribute to Silent Effort
Prior to the game against the Gigantes del Cibao, the management of the Leones del Escogido highlighted the work of the staff responsible for maintaining the playing field in optimal conditions. This recognition underscores the importance of their daily commitment, especially since Vitelio Mejía assumed the presidency of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) in 2017. The maintenance team proved its worth during the regular season, overcoming challenges such as the effects of Storm Melissa. Thanks to their efforts, multiple games were able to be held without setbacks, including a crucial match between the Leones del Escogido and the Estrellas Orientales on October 20th.Jeudy Paula Capellán, in charge of field maintenance, had the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch, accompanied by his colleagues Oscar Gutiérrez, Concepción Rosario, Joscar Pineda, Juan Paulino, Marino Parra, Francisco Núñez, Edwin Lara, Jonathan Vera, Daniel Feliciano, José Hernández and Yon Rosario. The ceremony was attended by the president of LIDOM, the general manager of the Leones, Carlos Peña, and the scarlet legend Wilkin Castillo. As a token of appreciation, Paula Capellán and her team received financial compensation for their valuable contribution to Dominican baseball and the success of the season. The October 20th meeting, which began at 10:18 at night, was a clear example of his dedication.
