SANTO DOMINGO. – The Escogido Baseball Club paid a well-deserved tribute to Moisés Alou at the start of the Final Series of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) championship, held this Wednesday at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium.
Under Alou’s direction, as general manager, the Leones del Escogido achieved four championships, marking a golden age for the team. These titles were obtained in the 2009-10, 2011-12, 2012-13, and 2015-16 seasons, consolidating a dynasty in Dominican baseball.
As part of the recognition, Moisés Alou, son of the legendary Felipe Rojas Alou, had the honor of throwing the first ball in the opening game of the Final Series, where the Lions seek their 18th championship.
At the event, Alou was accompanied by club executives, including Eduardo Najri, president; Fernando Armenteros, executive vice president; José Miguel Bonetti Du-Breil, director; and Board members Kai Schoenhals, Luis Manuel Bonetti Mesa and Otto Obritzhauser, as well as José Miguel Bonetti Terán.
The Rojas-Alou family has left an indelible mark on the history of the Escogido. Felipe Rojas Alou won multiple championships as a player and manager. Luis Rojas, brother of Moisés, also contributed with titles as a manager and general manager.
The presence of Moisés Alou, former manager of the national and Caribbean champions, was celebrated with a standing ovation by the fans present at the first game of the Final Series against the Toros del Este. This tribute underlines the pride and respect that the Leones del Escogido feel for Moisés Alou and his family, fundamental pillars of the organization.
