“Checo” Pérez Supports Verstappen for the 2025 F1 Championship

Mexican driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez, Formula 1 world runner-up in 2023, has expressed his confidence in Max Verstappen for the 2025 season. Pérez highlighted the consistency and talent of his former teammate, pointing out that Verstappen has everything he needs to win the championship.

Because of the consistency he has always shown, Max has a very good chance of winning the championship; he is undoubtedly the driver who deserves it the most.

These statements were made during the “From the Track to the Court” event in Mexico City, prior to the Mexican Grand Prix that will take place this weekend at the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome. Pérez, considered one of the best Mexican drivers in history, remained calm despite not participating in this year’s race, after his departure from Red Bull Racing at the end of the 2024 season. The driver confirmed that he will return to Formula 1 in 2026 as part of the new Cadillac team, marking his fifteenth season in the top category of motorsport.

New Stage with Cadillac

With 39 podiums in his career, “Checo” feels motivated by his new stage with the American team and revealed some details about his return. The Tapatio highlighted the trust and support he has received from his new technical structure, marking a contrast with his recent years. Pérez was part of Red Bull between 2021 and 2024, a period in which he obtained outstanding results, including a third place in 2022 and the runner-up in 2023. The 2025 Mexican Grand Prix will be held this weekend at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
