Centro and San José start the TBS Higüey 2025 with victories: Results and details

Start of the Superior Altagraciano Basketball Tournament in Higüey

HIGÜEY, LA ALTAGRACIA – Centro and San José clubs started on the right foot the 50th edition of the Superior Altagraciano Basketball Tournament (TBS Higüey 2025), in an inaugural day full of emotions held at the Leo Tavárez sports center. In the stellar encounter, the Centro team (1-0) defeated the current champions, the Antonio Guzmán club (0-1), with a score of 92-85. Previously, San José (1-0) prevailed over Savica (0-1) with a result of 99-83. The tournament, which includes the Punta Cana Cup, is sponsored by the Puntacana Group and is organized by the Basketball Association of La Altagracia Province (ABAPA), under the presidency of Jorge Tavárez. The edition is dedicated to Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte, Bishop of the Diocese of Our Lady of La Altagracia.

For the Centro team, Kerry Richardson led the offense with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, as well as four assists. Nathanael Louis contributed 19 points and 16 rebounds, while Jordy Peralta and Albert Fernández added 20 and 19 points respectively.

In the Antonio Guzmán team, Bryan De la Cruz stood out with 27 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists, although his performance was not enough to avoid the defeat. Ariel De León scored 17 points and José Castillo contributed 16. San José had the outstanding performance of Luis Peña, who scored 29 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists. Jonathan Guerrero achieved a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Albert Reyes and Antonio Gordon also had relevant performances with 17 and 16 points, respectively. In Savica, Roderick Guzmán scored 24 points, Luar Ledesma 15, Manuel Suero 14, John Egbuta 14, and Joan Del Rosario 11.

Upcoming Meetings

The Friday games at the TBS Higüey 2025 will be between the teams of Cambelén and San Francisco, at 7:20 pm, and in the second game, at 9:00 pm, Antonio Guzmán and San José.
