SANTO DOMINGO, RD. – The Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC) has confirmed the teams that will compete in the Caribbean Series Jalisco 2026, following the coronation of the Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).
Confirmed Teams for Jalisco 2026
The Caribbean tournament, which will begin next Sunday at the Pan American Stadium of the Charros in Zapopan, Jalisco, will bring together the Leones del Escogido (Dominican Republic), the Charros de Jalisco and the Tomateros de Culiacán (Mexico), the Cangrejeros de Santurce (Puerto Rico) and the Federales de Chiriquí (Panama) as a guest team.
Dominican Republic Secures Its Participation
The Leones del Escogido secured their ticket to Jalisco by winning their eighteenth national title, defeating the Toros del Este 1-0 in the fifth game of the Final Series, held at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium.
The only run of the game was the product of consecutive singles by Héctor Rodríguez and Erick González, combined with productive groundouts by Sócrates Brito and Junior Lake. The victory was secured by the performance of the pitching staff, led by Jefry Yan, who earned the win, and Matt Foster, with the save.
Alcides Escobar was named Most Valuable Player of the Final Series, with a .333 average, five RBIs, a home run, an OPS of .833, and an outstanding defensive performance at third base.
Mexico Ready for the Competition
The ARCO Mexican Pacific League will be represented by Mexico Rojo (Charros de Jalisco) and Mexico Verde (Tomateros de Culiacán), whose official rosters have already been announced.
Charros will have players from various organizations, while Tomateros will present a team with international experience. Both teams have players with previous experience in the Caribbean Series, which reinforces their expectations in the tournament.
Puerto Rico in Search of the Title
The Cangrejeros de Santurce, champions of the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (LBPRC), are preparing from the Roberto Clemente Walker Stadium in Carolina, with nine reinforcements and with the goal of obtaining the 17th Caribbean title for Puerto Rico, the first since 2018.
The Puerto Rican team will debut on Sunday against Mexico Verde at 1:00 PM.
Panama Returns to the Caribbean Series
The Federales de Chiriquí will participate for the fourth time in the Caribbean Series, led by José Mayorga and with a team composed of Panamanian players. The team will rest on the opening day and will debut on February 2 against Charros de Jalisco.
Venezuela Defines Its Representative
In the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), the Navegantes del Magallanes took the lead in the first game of the Final Series by defeating Caribes de Anzoátegui 12-4, in a series agreed to the best of seven games.
