Caribbean Queens dominate Thailand 3-0 in the VNL and end streak

The Queens of the Caribbean demonstrated their power by defeating Thailand in straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-23) this Friday, in an exciting match of Pool 8 of the Nations League (VNL) held in Arlington, Texas.

This triumph raises the Dominicans’ record to 5-6, marking the end of a three-game losing streak. The team will take a break on Saturday and return to action on Sunday at 12:30 PM to face Germany in their final match of this phase.

The Caribbean offensive shone with Brayelin Martínez at the helm, accumulating 17 points. Jineirys Martínez and Gaila González contributed 15 points each, while Yonkaira Peña added 10.

From Thailand, Ajcharaporn Kongyot stood out with 13 points, followed by Pimpichaya Kokram with 9 and Thatdao Nuekjang with 8.

Despite the score, the match was contested. Thailand presented a fast and aggressive game, constantly challenging the Dominican defense. In the first set, the Asians led 13-10, but the Dominican Republic reacted strongly, securing the partial with crucial spikes and blocks.

In the second set, a block by Brayelin and an ace by Samaret Caraballo made the difference in favor of the Dominicans, who maintained the lead. The third set culminated with a Dominican comeback and a powerful spike by Gaila González that sealed the victory.

The team led by Marcos Kwiek seeks to consolidate among the best VNL teams in the preliminary phase.
