Chiang Mai, Thailand – The Dominican Republic women’s volleyball team, known as the “Queens of the Caribbean”, secured their place in the second round of the World Volleyball Championship. The victory came after a resounding triumph over Mexico in three consecutive sets. The final score was 25-15, 25-17 and 25-20, demonstrating the Dominican team’s superiority in the match. With this result, the Queens of the Caribbean have two victories without defeats in the tournament, consolidating their position in Group F. This Tuesday, the team will enjoy a day off, preparing for their next challenge on Wednesday the 27th, where they will face China at 8:30 in the morning.Court Domination: Match Statistics
The match statistics reflect the dominance of the Dominican Republic. The team outperformed Mexico in attack, with a score of 42-32, and in blocks, 6-3. Mexico, for its part, now has a record of 0-2 in the championship. The attack of the Caribbean Queens was led by their captain, Brayelin Martínez, who scored 22 points. Yonkaira Peña contributed 11 points, followed by Gaila González with 8 points and Jineirys Martínez with six. In the Mexican team, Sofía Alvarado stood out with 12 points, while Jocelyn Urias and Melenie Parra each scored five. The Dominican team demonstrated its strength from the first sets, controlling the game in all aspects.
