Dominican Republic Wins Bronze at the 2025 NORCECA Final Six Tournament
Guadalajara – The Dominican Republic’s women’s volleyball team achieved an epic victory over Puerto Rico this Sunday, securing the bronze medal in the 2025 NORCECA Final Six Tournament. The match, full of emotion and changes, culminated with a score of 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 25-23 and 15-13).
The match, played to the last point, demonstrated the tenacity and talent of both teams. The Dominicans, after a promising start, saw how Puerto Rico rallied to take the lead. However, the determination of the Dominican team was key to reversing the situation.
Madeline Guillén led the Dominican attack with an impressive performance, accumulating 24 points. Alondra Tapia contributed 17 points and Massiel Matos added 13. Yaneiris Rodríguez, with her excellent defensive performance, was fundamental to the triumph.
From Puerto Rico, Decelise Champión stood out with 25 points, followed by Valeria Vázquez with 17 and Neria Ortíz with 14.
The match was characterized by an intense battle in each set. Although the Dominicans won the first set, Puerto Rico responded strongly, taking the next two. It was in the fourth set where Guillén became the key figure, leading her team to tie the score. Tapia and the middle blockers Geraldine González and Florangel Terreno also contributed crucial points in the closing of that set.
The fifth and decisive set maintained the tension until the end. With a close score, the Dominican Republic team managed to prevail, securing the victory and the bronze medal.
In the statistics, the Dominican Republic showed superiority in the attack (63-61), while Puerto Rico dominated in blocking (16-13).
