Cañeros del Este Makes Strategic Change in its Technical Staff
Santo Domingo – Los Cañeros del Este, with the firm purpose of strengthening their leadership position and securing their place in the Elimination Phase of the 2025 National Basketball League (LNB) tournament, have announced an important modification in the team’s technical direction. José Pérez will take the reins of the team on an interim basis, assuming the role of head coach after the departure of coach Richie González. With a current record of 7-5 and located at the top of the standings, the La Romana franchise seeks to maintain the excellent performance it has demonstrated throughout the season. Pérez will have the support of Ramón Ruiz, who brings his vast experience as an assistant, completing his third year in the team’s coaching staff and with a past as a player.The Cañeros del Este organization expressed its deep gratitude to coach Richie González for his dedication and commitment, especially for the outstanding campaign of the previous year, where he led the team to the semifinals of the tournament. The team plans to soon incorporate several key figures, including Luis Santos, José Pérez Hernández, Matthew Herasme, Reymond Bastardo, and Xavier Carreras, who will reinforce the squad for the crucial stage of the championship. The next games of the Cañeros will be this Tuesday against the Marineros de Puerto Plata at the Eleoncio Mercedes Sports Center, and on Friday against the Leones de Santo Domingo at the Mauricio Báez Club.We are committed to making the necessary moves to strengthen our roster and fight for the main goal: to obtain the third crown for La Romana.
