Canario Leads Beating of Leones del Escogido over Tigres del Licey

Santo Domingo – Alexander Canario starred in a memorable night, leading the offense of the Leones del Escogido with two home runs, including a grand slam, in the 15-1 victory over the Tigres del Licey this Tuesday at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium. The long-haired players unleashed a forceful attack, backed by a solid performance from starting pitcher Grant Gavin.

Offensive Domain and Solid Pitching

The scarlet offensive made itself felt early on. Yainer Díaz, in his debut, hit a two-run home run in the first inning. In that same inning, the Escogido added two more runs, including a run-scoring double by Junior Lake. The home run festival continued with Franchy Cordero, who connected a solo home run. Alexander Canario joined the party with his first home run of the night in the eighth inning. The icing on the cake came in the ninth, when Canario hit a grand slam that sealed the victory. The Lions’ pitching also shone. Grant Gavin pitched five solid innings, allowing only one hit. Licey’s Reaction

The Tigres’ only run came thanks to a solo home run by Esteury Ruiz in the eighth inning. Licey’s starting pitcher, Shaun Anderson, took the loss.
