SANTO DOMINGO, RD. – The Calero de Villa Duarte and Leñeros de Los Mina teams celebrated victories on Tuesday’s day of the X Superior Basketball Tournament of Santo Domingo Province (TBS Santo Domingo 2026), an event dedicated to President Luis Abinader.
Calero remains undefeated
The Calero team maintained its undefeated streak, improving its record to 2-0 after defeating the Loros Calientes 98-93 (0-2). The match took place in the sports center of the Calero club, located in Villa Duarte, Santo Domingo Este. Austin Pietrera led Calero’s attack with 29 points, while Isquendel Reyes achieved a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Ronald García also had an outstanding performance with 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists, followed by Axel Goris with 14 points and Anferny Acevedo with eight. By the Hot Parrots, Luis Martínez was the most outstanding player with 31 points and 12 rebounds, followed by Richard Mejía with 22 points and Eliezer Sánchez with 18 points and eight rebounds. Enmanuel Martínez contributed 10 points.Leñeros triumphs over Trenes
In the second game of the day, the Leñeros de Los Mina (1-1) defeated the Trenes de Santo Domingo Norte (1-1) with a score of 97-91. Bryan Luciano was key to the victory, scoring 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Luciano had the support of Yasuel Batista, who contributed 17 points; Jerry Flores, with 14 points and eight assists; Willy Batista with 12 points and José Familia with 11 points and seven rebounds. For the Trenes, Miguel Brito led the offense with 22 points, followed by Kelvin Furcal with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Michael De la Cruz achieved a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Juan Santana and Miguel Carmona contributed with 12 and 11 points, respectively. In the tournament, the Caminantes de Los Alcarrizos, the current champions, and Caobas City from Santo Domingo Oeste also participate. The event is organized by a committee led by Ángel De la Cruz, along with William Cabral Lugo (Nemeneme), president of the Santo Domingo Province Basketball Association (ABASADO). The technical direction is in charge of Ramón Ceballos and Maikel Rodríguez. The tournament is supported by the Ministry of Sports, headed by Minister Kelvin Cruz, as well as the company Seaboard “Clean Energy” and its Social Responsibility manager, Fernando Geraldino.Next Matchday
The TBS Santo Domingo 2026 actions will continue this Friday at 8:00 p.m. with the match between Caobas City and the Trenes de Santo Domingo Norte, at the multi-purpose hall of the El Krom club, in Santo Domingo Norte.
