Santo Domingo Oeste – The Calcaño Baseball League held a children’s tournament for children aged 9 to 11 years. The event, held at the play of Manzana 26 of the Las Caobas sector, Santo Domingo Oeste, sought to promote sport, discipline and healthy coexistence among the young participants.
The tournament, called “Oeste Prospect Kids”, had a large community participation, bringing together eight representative teams from various leagues: Delio Peña, Estrella de Las Caobas, Caí Palma, Indio de Las Palmas, Chadal, Los Monteros and Los Callaos. This event was established as a key space for social integration and the sports development of children.
Dedication and Acknowledgments
The tournament was dedicated to Robert Polanco, director of the Strategic and Special Projects Program of the Presidency (PROPEEP), in recognition of his continuous support for initiatives that promote children’s baseball and community development nationwide.
Economic Incentives
During his intervention, Polanco announced significant economic incentives for the participating teams. The first place will receive RD$75,000, the second place RD$50,000 and the third RD$25,000. In addition, an additional contribution of RD$50,000 will be awarded to the Calcaño League to support its organizational and training work.
Also, the creation of a mural on the walls of the play was announced, which will include photos of the most outstanding players of the tournament, as a tribute to their effort and a source of inspiration for future generations.
The tournament cup was dedicated to Félix Feliz, president of the Jahdiel Foundation, for his outstanding social work for the benefit of the municipality.
