SANTO DOMINGO – Bryan de la Cruz, from the Toros del Este, and right-handed pitcher Jorge Tavarez, from the Águilas Cibaeñas, have been awarded as the Most Valuable Players (MVP) of the Week, corresponding to the period from November 24 to 30, in the 2025-2026 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), dedicated to don Juan Marichal and in option to the Banreservas Cup. The sixth official recognition was held virtually, with the participation of more than 100 sports reporters from all over the country. This is the first time in the current season that both awards have gone to native players.

Bryan de la Cruz’s Domain

The Toros del Este’s gardener won the award decisively, obtaining 78 votes out of a possible 105, representing 74.3%. He widely surpassed Deyvison De Los Santos (Gigantes del Cibao) and Steward Berroa (Águilas Cibaeñas), who each received six votes. Christian Adames (Tigres del Licey) obtained five votes. De la Cruz had an outstanding offensive week, batting .435 (10 hits in 23 at-bats), including two home runs, four doubles, and ten RBIs. In addition, he recorded an OBP of .480, a slugging percentage of .870, and an OPS of 1.350. This is the 16th time a Toros player has won the weekly MVP since LIDOM officially took over the award in the 2022-2023 season.

Tavarez excels from the mound

Regarding pitchers, Tavarez dominated with 82 votes, equivalent to 79.6% of the 103 ballots cast. The only pitcher with double figures behind him was Aaron Sánchez, also from the Toros del Este, with 13 votes (12.6%). The Eagles’ opener had two starts, both victories, accumulating 11 innings in which he allowed only two runs, five hits and struck out 12 batters, for an ERA of 1.64 and a WHIP of 0.64. This is the twentieth weekly MVP received by an Eagles Cibaeñas player, the most for any organization since this award modality began.
