Asunción, Paraguay – The Brazilian delegation positioned itself at the top of the medal table in the Junior Pan American Games ASU2025, after an intense second day where the first medals were defined.

Brazilian Domain in Various Disciplines

Brazil’s performance, which has accumulated 21 medals, including eleven gold, surpassing Chile and Colombia in the general table, began with outstanding victories.
  • Joao Batista and Daniel Passold were victorious in the men’s double sculls (M2X).
  • Rafaela Rodrigues and Bianca Reis took first place in judo, in the under 52 and under 57 kilogram categories, respectively.
  • Bruno Nóbrega and Clarice Ribeiro contributed two more golds in judo, in the under 66 and under 48 kilogram categories.
  • Luiza Cocuzzi won in mountain biking.

Bolivia Scores Gold in Fencing

Esteban Mayer Shepard, representing Bolivia, achieved a remarkable victory in fencing, men’s individual sabre category, defeating American William Lim with a score of 15-13. This triumph propelled Bolivia to tenth position in the medal table.

Paraguay Celebrates its First Medal

The Paraguayan hostess enthusiastically celebrated the first gold medal won in the games. Nicole Martínez, a promising figure in Paraguayan rowing and an aspirant for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, won the women’s single sculls competition, securing her place in the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.

Records and Excitement in Swimming

The Asunción Olympic Aquatic Center witnessed outstanding performances, including a new junior Pan American record set by Argentina’s Agostina Hein in the 400-meter freestyle, with a time of 4:13.41. Emily Silva Santos, from Panama, also broke the record with a time of 1:08.55. Hein then took the gold medal in this event with a time of 4:06.96. In the 100-meter men’s breaststroke, records were broken on multiple occasions. The Brazilian Guilherme Camosatto surpassed the previous mark, but was surpassed by Mariano Lazzerini and Xavier Ruiz, who finally took the gold with a time of 1:00.84. Camosatto won silver with 1:01.26, and Jamaica’s Collin McKenzie took bronze with 1:01.53. In the B final, Vicente Villanueva from Chile won, followed by Juan Diego León from Ecuador and Javier Colmenares from Venezuela.
