Bowling and Racquetball Enter Lima 2027: Panam Sports Approves Inclusion

Luque, Paraguay – The LXIII General Assembly of Panam Sports, held in Luque, Paraguay, announced a significant expansion for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games. In a momentous decision, the incorporation of bowling and racquetball as official disciplines of the event was approved.

New Disciplines at the Pan American Games

With this addition, the total number of sports specialties in the competition will rise to 38, according to Neven Ilic, president of the continental sports organization that brings together 41 countries.

At the request of many National Olympic Committees and for what these sports represent in our continent, the Executive Committee of Panam Sports, and with the approval of the General Assembly, has decided to include bowling and racquetball in the sports program of Lima 2027.

Panam Sports noted that this will be the fifth consecutive time that bowling and racquetball will be part of the program of the Pan American Games, since their inclusion in Guadalajara 2011.

Upcoming Pan American Games

The General Assembly, which will last for two days, will also evaluate the candidacies of Asunción, along with the Brazilian cities of Rio de Janeiro and Niterói, to host the 2031 Pan American Games. Paraguay’s President, Santiago Peña, participated in the assembly’s inauguration and expressed his country’s desire to be chosen as the host of the 2031 Pan American Games.
