Joe Brady, New Head Coach of the Bills

The Buffalo Bills have officially announced the hiring of Joe Brady as their new head coach, marking the beginning of a new era for the NFL team. The contractual agreement extends for five seasons, according to the organization’s announcement this Tuesday. The news was confirmed through an official statement, which highlighted the trust placed in Brady, who previously served as the team’s offensive coordinator. At just 36 years old, Brady takes over the leadership role, replacing Sean McDermott, who was fired on January 19th after nine seasons at the helm of the Bills.

I saw the pain on Josh Allen’s face after the defeat and felt the same. This is about the direction of leadership on and off the field. We had another playoff failure and I understood that it was time for a change. I know we can do better and we are going to prove it.

Terry Pegula, Bills Chairman
During McDermott’s tenure, the Bills made the playoffs eight times, with an overall record of 98 wins and 50 losses. The 51-year-old coach’s departure came after the team’s elimination by the Denver Broncos in the American Conference divisional round. The choice of Brady represents a bet on internal talent. The coach joined the Bills in 2022 as quarterbacks coach, and a year later he was named interim offensive coordinator, a position he held permanently in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. From his position, Brady has been fundamental in the development and performance of quarterback Josh Allen, who was recognized as Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the previous season.
