SARASOTA, Florida – The young Dominican prospect Samuel Basallo continues to demonstrate his worth in spring training, after an outstanding performance with the Baltimore Orioles. In the matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Basallo hit two home runs that drove his team to victory. The 21-year-old player demonstrated his power early in the game, sending the ball out of the park in his first two at-bats at Ed Smith Stadium.

Basallo’s hits registered impressive exit velocities, reaching 106.3 and 110.6 miles per hour, which underscores the strength he has displayed during the preseason.

The Dominican’s performance didn’t stop there. In the sixth inning, he hit a solid single, also with a high exit velocity, solidifying an exceptional offensive night. Basallo has been one of the most consistent hitters in the Grapefruit League, standing out for the quality of his contacts. Most of his hits this spring have exceeded 100 miles per hour, and a large part of them have been extra-base hits.

This performance reaffirms the potential of the Dominican player, considered one of the top prospects in baseball, and strengthens his candidacy to compete for the Rookie of the Year award in the American League in the 2026 season.
