Houston Astros Sign Cavan Biggio to Minor League Contract

The Houston Astros have announced the signing of utility player Cavan Biggio to a Minor League contract. This agreement includes an invitation to the Major League team’s spring training, although Biggio will not be part of the official roster. Biggio is expected to join the training camp in West Palm Beach, Florida, this Sunday. Biggio, son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, has a career of 561 games in the Major Leagues. His career statistics include 80 doubles, 52 home runs, 190 RBIs, and 262 walks, with an OPS of .712. In addition, he has stolen 33 bases in 36 attempts. In the 2025 season, Biggio played in 37 games with the Kansas City Royals. Over seven seasons in the Majors (2019-2025), he has represented the Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and the Royals. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2016 Draft by Toronto, Biggio is known for his defensive versatility. He has played in every position except pitcher and catcher. He has been a starter in every position, except shortstop, pitcher, and catcher. In his career, he has 219 starts at second base, 82 at third, 61 at first, and 104 in the outfield, as well as one appearance at shortstop. With this addition, Houston strengthens its roster for the 2026 season.
