Surprising Absence of Raúl Asencio in Real Madrid’s Call-up

Madrid – Raúl Asencio, central defender for Real Madrid, is the main new addition to the list of those called up for the crucial match against Bayern Munich, corresponding to the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. Coach Álvaro Arbeloa has decided to leave the player out, generating surprise among the fans. Asencio, who played the full 90 minutes in the recent LaLiga EA Sports match against Girona, has not been included among the 23 players selected by Arbeloa. The team faces the difficult task of overturning the tie, after losing 1-2 at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. So far, no official medical report has been issued regarding Asencio. No apparent injury is known to justify his absence from the call-up for the trip to Munich. Good news for the team, as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Antonio Rüdiger return to the squad after resting in the league match. Franco Mastantuono is also back, after serving his suspension for accumulation of cards. On the other hand, Aurélien Tchouaméni has not been included due to Mastantuono’s return. Thibaut Courtois and Rodrygo Goes remain out due to injury. In addition, Jesús Fortea, Manuel Ángel, and Daniel Yáñez are also not part of the list compared to the match against Girona. The complete list of those summoned is as follows:
  • Goalkeepers: Lunin, Fran González and Javi Navarro.
  • Defenders: Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Trent, Carreras, Fran García, Rüdiger, Mendy and Huijsen.
  • Midfielders: Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Güler, Ceballos and Thiago Pitarch.
