Amed Rosario Returns to the Yankees: A $2.5 Million Contract for 2026
The New York Yankees have secured the signing of experienced Dominican player Amed Rosario for the 2026 season. The agreement is for one year and amounts to 2.5 million dollars, marking the player’s return to the Bronx team.
Rosario, 30 years old, had an outstanding performance with the Yankees after his acquisition at the 2025 Trade Deadline, which facilitated his continuity in the organization.
In the past season, split between the Washington Nationals and the Yankees, the infielder recorded a batting average of .276, hitting six home runs, driving in 23 runs, and achieving a slugging percentage of .436, his personal best, in 62 games.
Despite having played for seven different organizations over nine seasons in the Major Leagues, Rosario maintains his versatility, offering above-average offensive performance and experience in various defensive positions. In 2025, he covered third base, second base, right field, and shortstop, adding depth to the team.
In 2017, Rosario was considered the fifth-best baseball prospect by MLB Pipeline. He debuted in the Major Leagues with the New York Mets and was part of the trade that brought Francisco Lindor to Cleveland in 2021.
With the Guardians, he had two outstanding seasons, excelling in 2022 by leading the Majors with nine triples.
Since leaving Cleveland, Rosario has taken on a utility player role, providing experience and defensive consistency on teams like the Dodgers, Reds, Rays, Nationals, and now, again, with the Yankees, who value his ability to cover multiple positions and his .273 batting average.
