Altuve Rises in Astros History: Surpasses Bagwell in Hits
In a day that will be etched in the memory of fans, José Altuve solidified his legend with the Houston Astros. The Venezuelan second baseman surpassed Jeff Bagwell, a Hall of Famer, on the franchise’s all-time hits list, reaching second place. The milestone occurred this Wednesday at Coors Field, during the 5-3 victory over the Rockies. Altuve hit his number 2,315 hit, a hit that not only broke the tie on the scoreboard, but also drove in two crucial runs for the victory. Altuve connected a solid single to center field in the sixth inning, against reliever Jake Bird. With this hit, he left Bagwell (2,314 hits) behind and now only has Craig Biggio (3,060) ahead of him, another icon of the organization.Bagwell, currently an advisor for the team, congratulated Altuve from Houston. It was a very special night. Jeff is a legend, and being able to be in that conversation is an honor. But this is not just about statistics, but about continuing to help my team win.

Starting pitcher Hunter Brown also had an outstanding performance, pitching six solid innings with eight strikeouts, allowing only two runs from a home run by Mickey Moniak. This victory was Brown’s first since June 1st, representing an important step in keeping the Astros in contention, despite recent injuries to key players. Altuve, who went 5-2 in the game, continues to demonstrate his relevance and consistency in his 14th season in Major League Baseball. With multiple batting titles, an MVP, a World Series, and now second place in club hits, the stellar second baseman continues to write his legacy as one of the greatest in Astros history.José is a fundamental part of the success of this franchise. His numbers speak for themselves, but what I admire most is his work ethic and character. I am happy for him. I know he has an even bigger number in mind: 3,000 hits.
