Alcaraz leads Spain in the Davis Cup: A challenge in Bologna

The world number one, Carlos Alcaraz, leads the Spanish team that will compete in the Davis Cup Finals 8 in Bologna, Italy, from November 19 to 23. The announcement was made by the Spanish coach, David Ferrer, at a press conference. Alcaraz, who this year has conquered Roland Garros and the US Open, will be accompanied by Jaume Munar, Pedro Martínez, Marcel Granollers and an additional player whose name will be defined in the last week. Alcaraz’s return to the Spanish team is a great boost, after his absence in the tie against Denmark in Marbella. At that time, the tennis player was forced to withdraw due to “muscle and mental fatigue” after his victory at the US Open. Despite the absence of Alcaraz, Spain achieved a meritorious victory in the previous tie, coming back from a 0-2 deficit. Pedro Martínez was key in that comeback, winning the doubles with Munar and defeating Holger Rune. Pablo Carreño completed the victory.
David Ferrer
Marcel Granollers, a doubles specialist, and another player to be announced soon, will complete the team. Ferrer did not reveal names, maintaining the expectation regarding the possible inclusion of Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina. In the final phase of the Davis Cup in Bologna, Spain will face the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals. If they manage to advance, they will face the winner of the match between Argentina and Germany. The other quarterfinal matches will be Italy against Austria and France against Belgium.

I am happy and excited to compete in the Final 8. Being in the finals right now is something I value very much.

David Ferrer
Ferrer expressed his satisfaction and enthusiasm for participating in the Final 8, highlighting the effort of the players who managed to qualify the team.
