Dominican pitchers Sandy Alcántara and Edward Cabrera are once again protagonists in the Major League Baseball trade market, months after the Marlins chose to retain them at the 2025 deadline. Now, both pitchers are attracting strong interest from several teams.

According to sources close to the MLB Network portal, both Alcántara and Cabrera are highly valued by teams looking to reinforce their rotations. Miami is expected to make moves involving one of these two pitchers in the coming weeks.

Sandy Alcántara: A Quality Pitcher with Potential

Alcántara, 30 years old, finished last season with an ERA of 5.36 in 174.2 innings, in his first year after returning from Tommy John surgery. However, his final performance was promising, recording an ERA of 3.13 in his last 12 starts.

The 2022 National League Cy Young winner has a guaranteed contract for $17.3 million in 2026, and a club option of $21 million for 2027.

Edward Cabrera: Promising Talent with Contractual Control

Cabrera, 27, has shown the potential to become a high-level starter, although injuries and inconsistency in control have affected his development. In 2025, he significantly improved his walk rate, pitching 137.2 innings, the most of his career, and recording an ERA of 3.32, with 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings. An elbow ailment sidelined him for a few weeks at the end of the season.

Cabrera is under contractual control until 2028, which increases his market value.
