Águilas Cibaeñas vs. Leones del Escogido: Early Opening Game
The match that will mark the start of the Round Robin between the Águilas Cibaeñas and the Leones del Escogido has undergone a change in its schedule. The game, originally scheduled for 6:00 PM at the Cibao Stadium, will be played at 5:00 PM.
This schedule change was agreed upon between both teams and the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The decision seeks to avoid overlaps with an artistic event that will take place at the Arena del Cibao Dr. Óscar Gobaira.
The modification will allow for better management of vehicular flow and greater comfort for fans attending the game, given that both facilities share the same parking areas.
The Águilas Cibaeñas reach the Round Robin after leading the regular season, finishing in first place with a record of 32-17. For their part, the Leones del Escogido qualified in fourth place, with a record of 23-27.
For the opening game, manager Luis “Pipe” Urueta has designated Jorge Tavárez as the starting pitcher. Tavárez was a key piece in the pitching of the Águilas during the regular season, showing great consistency.
Tavárez recorded a 4-1 record, with an ERA of 1.49 and a WHIP of 0.90. In eight appearances, seven as a starter, he pitched 36.0 innings, allowing 24 hits, six earned runs, nine walks, and striking out 27 batters.
The Cibao team will have the reinforcement of six players acquired in the Re-entry Draft: Cristhian Adames, Óscar De la Cruz, Misael Tamarez, Yunior Marte, Carlos Belén and Andrew Pérez, who will strengthen the squad for this semifinal phase.
Las Águilas Cibaeñas start the Round Robin with high expectations, driven by their performance and the incorporation of new talents, with the aim of securing a place in the Dominican baseball Final Series.
