Águilas Cibaeñas Strengthen with Corey Joyce for the 2025-2026 Season
The Águilas Cibaeñas, in their constant pursuit of maintaining dominance in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) during the 2025-2026 season, have announced the incorporation of the talented American infielder Corey Joyce. This strategic move aims to primarily strengthen the team for the final stretch of the regular season. The Cibao team, which currently leads the tournament with a solid 23-8 record, continues to make precise adjustments to secure its classification and arrive in optimal conditions for the postseason.Joyce, 26 years old, stands out for her versatility and experience in the field. This player bats and throws right, and is able to cover multiple positions in the infield, including shortstop, second and third base. Selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 2019 draft, Joyce has six seasons of experience in the Minor Leagues. In his last summer season, he played with the Knoxville Smokies, the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, where he participated in 92 games and recorded a batting average of .272 (88 hits in 323 at-bats).“We are focused on maintaining a highly competitive team. Each piece we add, like Corey, is a firm step in that direction. We are looking for versatility in the infield and players with a hunger to win, and Joyce fits perfectly into our philosophy,” said Gian Guzmán, general manager.
