Cibao Eagles Respond to LIDOM’s Decision on Annulled Game

Santiago – The management of the Águilas Cibaeñas has described as “surprising and disproportionate” the decision of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) to annul the game won last Friday against the Toros del Este. The game was canceled following a request for confiscation by the Toros del Este, who alleged a supposed violation of the limit of imported players allowed on the Eagles’ roster. The management of the Cibao team reacted firmly, arguing that the list of players was sent in advance to both LIDOM and the Toros del Este, and that the roster was validated without prior objections. According to the team, it is striking that the claim was filed when the party was already showing a clear advantage in its favor.

Although they recognize the authority of the league, the sanction applied is not proportionate to the fault indicated.

In its statement, the organization expressed that, if there were any irregularity, the appropriate thing would have been an administrative or economic sanction, and not a measure that directly modified the sporting result by ordering the repetition of the match. The Eagles reiterated their commitment to compliance with the regulations and the transparency of the tournament, defending the legitimacy of their performance in the canceled match, the repetition of which was ordered by the presidency of LIDOM.
