Cibao Eagles Respond to LIDOM’s Decision on Annulled Game

Santiago – The management of the Águilas Cibaeñas has described as unexpected and excessive the resolution of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) to invalidate the game they won last Friday against the Toros del Este. This decision was made after a request for confiscation by the Toros, who alleged a supposed infraction in the number of imported players allowed on the roster. The Eagles’ management expressed their discontent, arguing that the list of players was presented in advance to both LIDOM and the Toros del Este, and that the roster was approved without prior objections. According to Santiago’s team, it is peculiar that the protest was presented when the match was already clearly in their favor.

Although we recognize the authority of the league, the sanction applied is not proportionate to the fault indicated.

Comunicado de las Águilas Cibaeñas
In its statement, the organization stated that, if any irregularity were detected, the appropriate course of action would have been to apply an administrative or economic sanction, and not a measure that directly modified the sporting result by ordering the repetition of the match. The Eagles reaffirmed their commitment to compliance with the regulations and transparency of the tournament, defending the legality of their performance in the annulled game, whose repetition was decreed by the presidency of LIDOM.
