Águilas Cibaeñas Defeat Tigres del Licey in Exciting Duel
Santo Domingo – In a vibrant night at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, the Águilas Cibaeñas demonstrated their prowess by defeating the Tigres del Licey with a score of 6-4, extending the game to ten innings. The match, full of emotion, saw Adael Amador become the hero of the game with a crucial hit with the bases loaded.
The Aguiluchos team, led by Luis Urueta, achieved their fifteenth victory of the season (15-3), solidifying their dominance after the All-Star break. On the other hand, the Tigres del Licey now have a record of 8-11.
The victory went to Jeurys Familia (1-0), while J.C. Mejía (0-1) took the loss. Jonathan Hernández (1) secured the save.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the third inning thanks to a triple by Ezequiel Durán and a sacrifice fly by J.C. Escarra.
In the fourth inning, the Eagles’ offense continued its attack. Alberto Rodriguez hit a single, Emmanuel Rodriguez a double, and Jonatan Clase drove in two runs with a two-base hit, establishing a 3-0 lead.
The Tigres responded in the bottom of the same inning with a single by Cristhian Adames and a home run by Luis Campusano to left field.
In the seventh, a single by Ángel Genao, followed by a double by Leody Taveras, allowed Durán to score the fourth run for the Eagles.
However, Licey forced extra innings with a reaction in the ninth: Cal Stevenson started with a hit, Ángel Ortiz connected a run-scoring double and, after a groundout by Sergio Alcántara, a wild pitch by Jeurys Familia allowed the tying run (4-4).
In the tenth inning, the Eagles loaded the bases after a hit to Aderlin Rodriguez, another to Emmanuel Rodriguez and a strategic out by Steward Berroa.
With two outs and the tension at its maximum, Adael Amador hit a resounding single to right field, driving in two runs and securing the victory for the Eagles.
