Águilas Cibaeñas Confirms Luis “Pipe” Urueta as Manager for the 2026-2027 Season
The Baseball Operations department of the Águilas Cibaeñas has officially announced the renewal of Luis “Pipe” Urueta’s contract as manager for the 2026-2027 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The team’s management made this decision after Urueta’s outstanding debut season, who proved to be one of the most successful managers in the Caribbean region. Under his direction, the team achieved the best record in the past regular season (32-17), which earned Urueta the Manager of the Year award for the third time in his career.A History of Success in LIDOM
Urueta, originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, adds this recognition to his impressive career, which includes two previous Manager of the Year awards (2020-2021 and 2021-2022) and a national championship. Currently, he is positioned as the sixth foreign manager with the most victories in the history of the league, with a record of 121-98.
