PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Phillies have reached an agreement for one season and $10 million with free agent outfielder Adolis García, according to a source.The official announcement of the agreement is still pending from the club, but it is expected to be finalized shortly.García, 32, became a free agent after the Texas Rangers decided not to offer him a contract on November 21st.In the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the right-handed hitter recorded a combined offensive line of .225/.279/.397, with an OPS+ of 96.The signing represents a bet by the Phillies to recover the offensive and defensive impact that García showed in the past, when he was a prominent figure in baseball.In the 2023 postseason, the Cuban was key in Texas’ World Series title, hitting eight home runs and driving in 22 runs, a record for a single postseason, with an OPS of 1.108.His most outstanding performance came in the 2023 American League Championship Series against the Astros, where he was named Most Valuable Player after hitting five home runs and driving in 15 runs.
