Santo Domingo – Dominican pugilist Carlos “Caballo Bronco” Adames is preparing to defend his world middleweight title (160 pounds), endorsed by the World Boxing Council (WBC), facing American Austin “Ammo” Williams on January 31st at the emblematic Madison Square Garden in New York.

This fight will mark Adames’ third title defense as WBC regular champion. The Dominican boxer won the crown on October 8, 2022, by knocking out Mexican Juan Macías Montiel in three rounds.

Since he was crowned world champion, “El Caballo Bronco” has starred in four defenses in total. Initially, he defended his interim title, defeating American Julian Williams by knockout. His first defense as a regular monarch was against Terrell Gausha, whom he defeated by unanimous decision. Subsequently, in Saudi Arabia, he drew against the British Hamzah Sheeraz, in a confrontation that generated controversy and was considered favorable to the Dominican by many.

The clash between Adames and Williams will be part of the “The Ring 6” card, which will be headlined by the highly anticipated fight between Teófimo López and Shakur Stevenson.

Adames, who hasn’t stepped into the ring since February 2025, boasts an impressive professional record of 24 wins, with 18 knockouts, one draw, and one loss. For his part, Austin Williams holds a record of 19 wins, 13 of them by way of knockout, and one loss.

The fight will be available for streaming through the DAZN platform.

Carlos “Caballo Bronco” Adames is currently the only world boxing champion from the Dominican Republic. For this important commitment, he has carried out an intensive three-month preparation in Las Vegas, Nevada, under the tutelage of the renowned Cuban trainer Ismael Salas.
