SANTO DOMINGO. – The experienced infielder Cristhian Adames was the first selection of the Águilas Cibaeñas in the re-entry draft of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), held this Wednesday, December 24th. With this choice, the Eagles’ Operations Management, led by René Francisco and Gian Guzmán, significantly strengthens its infield, thanks to Adames’ ability to play with solidity in all infield positions. Adames arrives after an outstanding performance with the Tigres del Licey during the regular season, where he participated in 49 of the 50 games played. In that period, he took 169 official at-bats, connecting 52 hits for a .308 average, with 3 home runs, 12 doubles, 20 runs scored and 22 RBIs. In addition, he stole 2 bases in the same number of attempts, recording an OBP of .391, slugging of .432 and OPS of .823.
On that occasion, he played 12 games, batting 11-for-40 for .275, with a home run, a triple, 6 runs scored and one RBI. The player also has experience in Major Leagues, where he played with the Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants, accumulating 70 hits in 328 at-bats, with 2 home runs, 4 triples, 9 doubles, 21 RBIs, 32 runs scored and 2 stolen bases in 4 attempts. Cristhian Adames can defend the infield corners, as well as the positions in the middle of the field, including second base and shortstop, providing depth, experience, and versatility to the roster of the Águilas Cibaeñas.Switch-hitter Adames already knows the Eagles’ environment, after reinforcing the team in the semifinal series of the 2021-2022 season.
