SANTO DOMINGO – Albert Abreu continued his dominance from the mound, leading the Tigres del Licey to a 1-0 victory over the Gigantes del Cibao in an exciting game this Thursday at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium.

Abreu: Key Figure in the Victory

The right-handed pitcher showed his best form, earning his second win of the season. His performance spanned six innings, during which he allowed only three hits, struck out five batters, and gave up no walks. Abreu (2-4) kept the Giants’ offense at bay, securing the Blues’ second consecutive victory against this team in the capital. The loss went to Steve Moyers (0-1), who allowed the only run of the game in five innings, with two hits, a walk and four strikeouts.

Licey’s Relief Secures the Victory

The Licey bullpen fulfilled its function: Misael Tamárez pitched in the seventh, Anderson Severino in the eighth, and Jean Carlos Mejía closed the ninth without problems, obtaining the save. The only run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning, thanks to a wild pitch that allowed Mel Rojas Jr. to score from third base. With this victory, the Tigres (18-21) are positioned alone in third place, surpassing the Gigantes (17-22) by one game. For the Giants, Samad Taylor, Nomar Mazara, and Pablo Reyes connected the team’s three hits. For the Licey, Gustavo Núñez, Armando Álvarez, Mel Rojas Jr., Francisco Mejía and David Hensley recorded a hit.
