Abinader Honors the Dominican Baseball Team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic
Santo Domingo – The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, offered a dinner in honor of the members of the Dominican baseball team that will participate in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The event, held this Monday, was marked by an atmosphere of camaraderie and clear institutional support for the national sport. Accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, the president shared with the players, the operations team, and the coaching staff of the tricolor team. The selection is preparing to represent the country in the tournament that will bring together the 20 best nations in world baseball, starting March 6th.During the activity, which took place in a hotel in the capital, the Head of State expressed his confidence in the talent and dedication of Dominican baseball players, highlighting the importance of baseball as a symbol of national identity. The players enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere with the president, before starting the series of two exhibition matches that will serve as a prelude to their official participation in the championship. On the main table, next to the president and the Minister of Sports, were Juan Núñez, president of the Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom), Nelson Cruz, team manager, and Albert Pujols, team leader. Also present were Adrián Beltré and Vladimir Guerrero Sr., members of the Cooperstown Hall of Fame. In addition, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and the National Baseball Commissioner, Junior Noboa, were also present. Among the prominent players who headlined the dinner were Juan Soto, Manny Machado, Julio Rodríguez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Ketel Marte, Junior Caminero, and Gerardo Perdomo, among others.“Baseball unites us, fills us with emotion, and reminds us of what we are capable of when we work as a team.
