Abinader Honors the Dominican Baseball Team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic

Santo Domingo – The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, offered a dinner in honor of the members of the Dominican team that will participate in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The event, held on Monday night, was marked by an atmosphere of camaraderie and institutional support for the national sport. Accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, the president shared with the players, the operations team, and the coaching staff of the tricolor team. The team will represent the Dominican Republic in the tournament that brings together the 20 best nations in world baseball starting March 6.

“Baseball unites us, fills us with emotion, and reminds us of what we are capable of when we work as a team. Know that you have the absolute support of the Government and of an entire people who believe in you,” expressed President Abinader.

The activity, held in a hotel in the capital, allowed the players to share with the head of state before the exhibition games that will precede their official participation in the championship. At the main table, next to the president and the Minister of Sports, were Juan Núñez, president of the Dominican Baseball Federation; Nelson Cruz, team manager; Albert Pujols, team leader, as well as Adrián Beltré and Vladimir Guerrero Sr., both members of the Cooperstown Hall of Fame. Also present were the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and the National Baseball Commissioner, Junior Noboa. Among the prominent players who headlined the dinner were Juan Soto, Manny Machado, Julio Rodríguez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Ketel Marte, Junior Caminero, and Gerardo Perdomo.
