SANTO DOMINGO, RD – The Basketball Association of the National District (Abadina) has presented the official schedule for the 49th Superior Basketball Tournament (TBS Distrito 2025). The event will begin on Saturday, September 20th. This year’s edition promises an unprecedented opening. The first match will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, a venue with NBA characteristics. The opening match, called “Game of Respect”, will pit the Mauricio Báez and Bameso clubs against each other. Mauricio Báez, the current tournament champion, will face Bameso, his opponent in the 2024 final. The game at the Prudential Center, located at 25 Lafayette in Newark, will begin at 6:00 PM. Tickets are already on sale at Ticketmaster, with prices ranging from $69 to $257. On Sunday, September 21, the action will move to the Ricardo Gioriber Arias Volleyball Pavilion, the main venue of the championship. Three matches of the intergroup phase will be held. The Sunday jornada will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the match between El Millón and Los Prados. At 5:00 p.m., San Lázaro will face Huellas del Siglo, and to close the day, at 7:00 p.m., Rafael Barias and San Carlos will play.
The eight participating teams have been divided into two groups:
- Group A: Mauricio Báez, San Carlos, Huellas and Los Prados.
- Group B: Bameso, El Barias, San Lázaro and El Millón.
Ramírez also explained that the calendar is designed for 40 dates, which will be played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, as well as some Saturdays. The Commissioner added that this is due to the First Classification Window for the World Championship to be held in the country in the third week of November. The Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal) and its national team will need a week to train and play the two home games. In addition, he reported that September 10 is the deadline for teams to register their 10 players with the technical office, headed by Ramón Ceballos. For the meeting in New Jersey between Mauricio and Bameso, the referees are being selected. Pedro Ortiz will be the Technical Commissioner and Professor Víctor Sierra will be in charge of the technical table.This competition calendar was agreed upon and approved by the Organizing Committee, the Abadina Executive Committee, and the eight top clubs, maintaining a balance for each one.
