GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The coveted FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy arrived this Saturday in Guadalajara, marking the beginning of its promotional tour through Mexico. The city, one of the 16 host venues of the tournament, is preparing to welcome fans and unveil the emblematic cup. The event, which was held with strict security measures, was attended by authorities and organizers who sent a message of reassurance to local fans and the millions of visitors expected during the tournament, 103 days before it begins.
The Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, assured that the country is ready to host the tournament with security and hospitality, anticipating the arrival of approximately 5.5 million visitors to the venues in Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Mexico City. Prominent figures in international football, such as former Mexican striker Hugo Sánchez and Brazilian Roque Júnior, world champion in 2002, were also present at the ceremony. Local authorities highlighted the importance of Guadalajara as a key venue for the tournament. The governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, stated that the city is prepared to host the event and offer a great sporting celebration. The trophy tour through Mexico will continue until June, visiting nine cities. After Guadalajara, the trophy will travel to León, Veracruz, Chihuahua, Querétaro, Monterrey, Puebla, Mérida, and will end its tour in Mexico City.
