UASD presents key legal work on constitutional control at the Book Fair
Within the framework of the XXVIII Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2026, the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) consolidated its commitment to academic development by presenting the book titled “Constitutional control and supervening unconstitutionality: publication and validity of laws in the Dominican legal system”.
The text, written by lawyer and professor Smerly Rodríguez Jiménez, deeply analyzes the validity of legal regulations in the face of the country’s constant social and constitutional transformations. Through this study, the author examines the concept of supervening unconstitutionality, questioning how laws that maintain formal validity must adapt to the current constitutional framework.
A contribution to Dominican legal thought
During the presentation at the Juan Pablo Duarte Plaza de la Cultura, Rodríguez Jiménez, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the UASD Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, highlighted the importance of updating the law so that it responds to contemporary realities. The work addresses essential topics such as models of constitutional justice and the modalities of concentrated and diffuse control, establishing itself as a mandatory reference piece for students and professionals in the sector.
The work represents a critical analysis of constitutional supremacy and how norms must evolve to guarantee legal certainty in our nation.
