UASD reinforces its commitment to accessibility in the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences

The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) has taken a firm step toward the modernization of its facilities by inaugurating a new elevator in the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences (FCJP). This initiative has the fundamental purpose of optimizing mobility and ensuring an inclusive environment for the entire university community, including students, faculty, and administrative staff.

The handover ceremony was led by the university rector, Jorge Asjana David, accompanied by the dean of the faculty, Martín Montilla Luciano, as well as various university authorities who gathered to validate this structural improvement.

Commitment to inclusion and current regulations

During his speech, Rector Asjana David highlighted that this work is a reflection of the principle of continuity in academic management. Likewise, he emphasized that the project aligns with the university’s strategic physical accessibility plans, which seek to adapt infrastructures to contemporary requirements for accreditation and quality of service.

This facility represents an important step in the improvement and modernization processes of our faculty, responding directly to the accessibility provisions contemplated in the Dominican Constitution and Law number 5-13 on Disability.

A collective effort for student well-being

For his part, Dean Montilla Luciano acknowledged that this project is the result of a joint effort. In addition to thanking the current authorities for their support, he highlighted the work of the previous administration, led by former Dean Héctor Pereyra, who was in charge of initiating this necessary project.

  • Facilitates the movement of people with reduced mobility.
  • Strengthens the institutional commitment to inclusive education.
  • Complies with national accessibility standards for public institutions.

With this new infrastructure, the UASD reaffirms its commitment to eliminating architectural barriers, ensuring that access to higher education in the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences is a reality without obstacles for all its members.
