Two teenagers reported missing in San Francisco de Macorís located safe and sound
The National Police confirmed the discovery of two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, who had been reported missing since last Tuesday, August 11, in the Duarte province. The search operation, carried out by agents of the Regional Sub-directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) Northeast, concluded successfully on the night of Friday, August 14.
The minors were found around 8:20 p.m. in a home located in the Santa Luisa sector. According to preliminary reports from the authorities, the youths were taking refuge in the residence of an 18-year-old woman.
The young woman who provided shelter to the minors explained to the authorities that she made the decision to house them after hearing that both had received alleged threats linked to a sentimental conflict.
Health status and next legal steps
After being located, the teenagers underwent a medical evaluation that confirmed they are in perfect health, bringing relief to their families after the days of uncertainty. Currently, the case is proceeding according to current regulations:
- The minors and the young woman who sheltered them were taken to the local police station.
- The case has been referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
- The Children, Girls and Adolescents Court (NNA) of San Francisco de Macorís will take the corresponding legal measures to determine the responsibilities of the case.
